Annual Investiture at Supreme Grand Chapter.
On Thursday 28th April Thirty Worcestershire Companions made the annual pilgrimage by coach to the Annual Investiture at Supreme Grand Chapter. Leaving Halesowen at 6.45 and Kings Heath at 7.15, by some skillful driving and John Phenix’s equally skillful directions, the coach reached Great Queen Street on time despite the M40 turning into a car park.
As well as seeing E Comp Cec Cariss, the Prov Grand Scribe E being invested as Past Grand Standard Bearer, the Companions were treated to the added delight of seeing the new Third Grand Principal, Gareth Jones, Installed.
The day was rounded off with a very pleasant dinner at the Throckmorton Arms. Total charge including coach, dinner and first drink £35.
Because of restrictions on numbers it is not usually possible to attend a meeting at the Grand Temple and for many Companions a visit to Supreme Grand Chapter, which is open to all members of the Royal Arch, is one of the few occasions when they can see and hear a meeting in the Grand Temple. I say hear because when you hear 1,300 or so Masons signing the National Anthem its quite a rousing sound.
